I am a third-year Bachelor of Communication and Digital Journalism student at Thompson Rivers University, majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Marketing. I began my degree at the University of Calgary, but quickly realized I wanted a more applied, hands-on learning environment, one where I could actively build skills, not just study them. Transferring to TRU allowed me to do exactly that, and it has shaped both my academic experience and my professional direction.
Throughout my time at TRU, I have developed a strong foundation in social media marketing, brand management, digital storytelling, and multimedia storytelling. These courses have not only strengthened my technical abilities but have also sharpened my ability to think strategically about content, how it’s created, how it’s positioned, and how it resonates with specific audiences. As a result, I’ve developed an interest in content creation, journalism, and social media strategy, particularly where creativity and analytics intersect.
I am highly proficient across major social media platforms and comfortable using a range of content creation and editing tools. More importantly, I understand how to use these platforms with intention. I consistently stay up to date with emerging trends, platform updates, and performance analytics, and I enjoy translating that information into content that is both engaging and strategic. I’ve applied these skills directly to my own small business, where I’ve had the opportunity to experiment, analyze performance, and refine my approach in real time. This hands-on experience has been invaluable in helping me understand what works, what doesn’t, and how to adapt quickly.
This portfolio is a reflection of both my creative strengths and my ability to think critically about media and marketing. The L’Oréal infographic included in this collection is one of my earlier projects, but it remains a strong representation of my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and visually. Developed from a written paper, the piece highlights my understanding of foundational marketing concepts such as consumer segmentation, while also demonstrating my eye for design and clarity in messaging.
Another project I am proud of is my Queen Charlotte Bridgerton analysis. This piece shows my strength in media studies and my ability to engage with content on a deeper, more analytical level. It demonstrates my understanding of representation, audience, and cultural context, while also showcasing my ability to communicate those ideas effectively.
Across all of my work, I try to balance creativity with strategy. I am not only interested in producing content that looks good, but content that performs, connects, and aligns with a larger brand or message. I am especially drawn to environments where I can contribute to building a brand voice, strengthening audience relationships, and creating content that feels both authentic and intentional.
While I am still refining the exact direction I want to pursue after graduation, I am confident in the skill set I bring to the table. I am adaptable, curious, and driven to improve continuously. I am comfortable taking initiative, learning quickly, and stepping into new challenges. Whether in media, content creation, or journalism, I am ready to contribute with a strong mix of creativity, critical thinking, and strategic awareness.
Ultimately, I am looking for opportunities where I can continue to grow, contribute meaningfully, and be part of work that has impact.
