Through my coursework at Thompson Rivers University, I have developed a foundational understanding of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. In CMNS 1100: Principles of Communication Design, I learned the fundamentals of visual communication and design and the basics of Illustrator, while CMNS 1200: Introduction to Digital Production gave me hands-on experience working with Adobe Creative Suite.
My coursework included creating layouts such as magazine pages in InDesign, working with typography and text within images, understanding vector vs. raster graphics, and using the core tools and functions within Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. I received an A in CMNS 1100 and an A- in CMNS 1200.
While I would not consider myself an advanced or expert user of these platforms, I have a solid foundational understanding of the tools and how they are used in a professional design workflow. I also recognize that proficiency comes with continued practice and experience. I am highly comfortable learning independently, adapting to new software, and building on my existing skills as needed.
